A Service Manager from NRS Healthcare has kickstarted the year with an intense programme to train for the London Marathon.

Mike Cutler, who manages the Southampton, Portsmouth and West Sussex Community Equipment contracts, is taking on the renowned 26.2 mile course this April and raising money for NRS Healthcare’s charity partner the Carers Trust. Mike said:

“I am extremely pleased and honoured for the opportunity to undertake this great challenge on behalf of the company. Back in 2017 I had a place for this event, but I gave it up as my dad sadly passed away and I just wasn’t in the right frame of mind. I feel I have unfinished business with the London Marathon and would like to make my dad proud as well as my family and work colleagues. To undertake this for such an excellent charity in a privilege.”

Svetlana Kirov, is the Carers Trust Executive Director of Fundraising. She said:

“Carers Trust is thrilled that Mike is running the London Marathon in April to support unpaid carers! We know just how big a commitment it is, so we are very grateful for all his incredible training and fundraising efforts so far. We’ll be there to cheer him along on the big day.”

NRS Healthcare marked its third-year anniversary partnership with the Carers Trust in October 2022. The charity works tirelessly to transform the lives of unpaid carers through collaboration, influence, evidence and innovation. During that time colleagues have taken part in several events which have raised more than £30,000.

Mike has set himself a fundraising target of £3,000, which will go to supporting unpaid carers who Carers Trust say are experiencing greater pressure than ever before to cope with the physical and mental health needs of those they are caring for.

He started his training between Christmas and New Year and for the next six weeks will be completing high intensity training every morning during weekdays as well as running around 24 miles per week.

In the past Mike has undertaken other running events including the Great South Run, but said he is looking forward to completing this personal challenge.
