Leicester, Leicestershire, and Rutland Integrated Community Equipment Loan Service (ICELS)

NRS Healthcare provides community equipment to people living in their own homes, residential and nursing homes and educational settings on behalf of Leicestershire County Council, Leicester City Council, Rutland County Council and the NHS Clinical Commissioning Groups for Leicester City, East Leicestershire and Rutland and West Leicestershire.

NRS Healthcare is responsible for the delivery, collection, maintenance and repair of the equipment loaned to people.

How do I order equipment?

Equipment should be ordered through our online ordering system – IRIS4 – which can be found here

Before you order equipment for the first time, you will need to obtain a PIN to access IRIS.

How do I get a PIN if I have never prescribed equipment before?

IRIS is the system you will use to order the equipment; you need a PIN to access IRIS.

To get an IRIS PIN you:

  • Will first need to speak to your manager/team lead; they will need to agree to the request.
  • Your manager/team lead may ask you to complete a request form which they can access on IRIS and send to you. All completed forms must be sent back to the ICELS email address stated on the bottom of the form.
  • Your manager/team leader will need to sign the form to authorise this request. You or your manager/team leader can send this to the ICELS team for processing. PLS NOTE – unsigned forms are currently being accepted as long as they come from the managers/team leaders email address.
  • Once the PIN request has been processed you will be sent a link to a mandatory online training course.
  • When you have completed the course, you will be emailed with your PIN and a temporary password (which will need to change when you first log in).
  • You will now be able to place orders on IRIS.

NRS Healthcare has no input into PIN forms.

Recommended training

NRS Healthcare offer some standard training for people who are new to the service or who have changed roles. The training is currently virtual.

The training takes one day and includes information on

  • Description of the type of equipment (including weight limits)
  • Considerations prior to prescription of the equipment (person, environment, other family members, equipment often used in conjunction)
  • When equipment is usually prescribed
  • Contraindications for use
  • Any additional documents (eg risk assessments, diagrams) to complete
  • Fitting of equipment
  • How to use / demonstrate the equipment safely
  • Maintenance of equipment
  • Customer care advice (eg what to do if no longer needed), labelling, legislation

What do I do if I have forgotten my PIN and/or password?

If you have forgotten your PIN as well as your password, you will need to contact your contract commissioner(s) for a reminder or new PIN

If you know your PIN and have registered your email address with NRS Healthcare, you can enter your PIN then click the ‘Reset my Password’ button. You will then receive an automated temporary password to your email address.

If you know your PIN and have set up a secret question and answer with IRIS, you can telephone the helpdesk on 0345 123 6441. If you can quote your PIN, name and provide the answer to your secret question, one of the technicians will reset your password which will allow you to log in. Please only do this if you haven’t registered your email address.

In the interest of security and to protect sensitive information, if you have forgotten your password and have not registered an email address, or secret question and answer, it will not be possible to verify that you are an authorised user and will not be able to confirm or reset your password. In this case you will need to inform your commissioner or contract manager as they will need to email Debbie.walker@leicspart.nhs.uk in order to reset your password.

What information do NRS Healthcare provide to service users about ICELS?

What happens if my client is not eligible for local authority funded equipment?

NRS Healthcare operate a service called Safe+Well, this is a website which contain information about which daily living aids might be able to help clients and where they can be found in the local community.

There is also a questionnaire client can complete which asks them questions about areas of daily life they might experience difficulties with and suggests equipment they can purchase themselves that might help.

What happens if I change role?

If you change role you must contact the ICELS team at Liam.Walsh@leicspart.nhs.uk and Debbie.walker@leicspart.nhs.uk to advise of the change. Once IRIS is updated you’ll receive an email to confirm this. You will not need to complete the training again.
